Locked In ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Locked In mobile application and the website get-lock-in.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our services.
Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create an account or join our waitlist, we collect your email address. If you create a full account, we may also collect your name and profile information.
Location Data. Locked In uses your device's location services to enable location-based app blocking. Location data is used to determine when you enter or leave geographic zones you have configured (such as your office, gym, or library). Location data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless required for the accountability partner notification feature.
Subscription Data. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store. RevenueCat processes your purchase information on our behalf. We receive subscription status information (active, expired, trial) but do not have access to your payment details, which are handled entirely by Apple.
Usage Data. We collect anonymized usage data to improve the app, including which features you use, session frequency, and app performance metrics. This data is not linked to your personal identity.
Accountability Partner Data. When you use the accountability partner feature, we store the unblock request (your name, the app you wish to unblock, and the approval status) in Firebase. Your accountability partner accesses this data via a unique, time-limited URL.
Contacts. When you choose to add a Guardian via the iOS contact picker, we access the specific contact you select to retrieve their name and phone number. We do not access or store your full address book. The Guardian's contact details are stored locally on your device and used only to send invitation and unblock request messages.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the Locked In app and its features
- To process location-based blocking on your device
- To facilitate accountability partner approvals
- To manage your subscription through RevenueCat and the Apple App Store
- To send you waitlist updates and product announcements (with your consent)
- To improve and optimize the app experience
Data Storage and Security
We use Google Firebase for backend services including authentication and data storage. Firebase data is stored in secure, encrypted Google Cloud infrastructure. Location data for blocking zones is stored locally on your device. Accountability partner requests are stored in Firebase Firestore with time-limited access tokens.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Firebase (Google) — Backend infrastructure, authentication, and data storage
- RevenueCat — Subscription management and purchase verification
- Apple App Store — Payment processing for in-app subscriptions
- Formspree / Brevo — Waitlist email collection and communications
Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review their policies.
Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Waitlist emails are retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Resolved accountability partner requests are deleted from our database immediately upon Guardian approval or denial. Any unresolved requests are automatically deleted within 24 hours. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for email communications at any time
- Disable location services through your device settings
Children's Privacy
Locked In is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
